Support for Caregivers

Man Walking in Fields

When a loved one experiences a medical change, injury, or chronic condition, the effects ripple through the entire family. As a caregiver—whether you’re a partner, spouse, parent, adult child, or other support person—you may find yourself balancing new responsibilities, medical appointments, and emotional stress, all while navigating the uncertainty of what the future holds. Caregiving can bring deep love and connection, but it can also bring overwhelm, burnout, grief, and shifting family dynamics.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a Recreational Therapist in both hospital and home-based rehabilitation settings, supporting not just individuals but their entire family systems throughout the long-term recovery process. I saw firsthand how life-altering diagnoses, neurological conditions, and serious injuries impact not only the individual but also their partners, parents, and children—affecting relationships and routines. I worked closely with families as they adjusted to changing roles, processed feelings of loss or stress, and found ways to reconnect despite the challenges they faced.

Now, as a therapist, I continue this work by providing a space for caregivers to process their experiences, manage stress, and maintain their own well-being. Whether you’re navigating caregiver fatigue, anticipatory grief, ambiguous loss, role shifts in your relationship, or the emotional impact of witnessing a loved one’s struggles, you don’t have to do it alone. Together, we can work toward building resilience and finding ways to care for yourself while caring for others.
